2018 FTC Contact Lens Rule Review
As part of a scheduled 10-year review of the Contact Lens Rule, the FTC held a workshop in Washington, D.C. on March 7, 2018, that served as an opportunity for key eye health stakeholders to share their feedback on how proposed changes may impact the patient-doctor relationship, and consumers’ access to contact lenses in the future.
At this juncture, it’s critical that the FTC hears a range of perspectives on how their proposals will impact patients and practices. You have an opportunity to share your comment with the FTC by April 6, 2018.
During the workshop, Peter Menziuso, President North America of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc., and Dr. Carol Lakkis, Clinical Research Fellow for Johnson & Johnson Vision, underscored the benefits of a robust contact lens marketplace for consumers that promotes a positive patient experience while minimizing health-related risks.
